CHILLIN’ OUT
Barneys New York Holiday Windows 2015
Led the technical design and construction of Barneys’ 2015 "Chillin’ Out" holiday windows. The project transformed four Madison Avenue displays into immersive winter scenes, each presenting unique engineering challenges.
Ice Carvers: Built a 35-foot custom ice locker maintaining 3–15°F, enabling daily live sculpting by Okamoto Studio. Integrated lighting and ventilation supported continuous performance.
Ice Castles: Engineered a dynamic structure using 2,000 hand-harvested icicles and a misting system, designed to evolve over time with programmable lighting.
Arctic Chase: Integrated 3D-printed, crystal-encrusted Lexus models with animated projections for an interactive penguin race scene.
Winter Brilliance: Installed a suspended Dale Chihuly sculpture made of 700 hand-blown elements. Implemented 3D projection mapping and a custom score to simulate shimmering ice.
A fusion of art and engineering that pushed the boundaries of retail display through innovative design and precise execution.
